On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, Junior Achievement of Hawai‘i Island proudly welcomed Jimmy Chan, owner of Hawaiian Chip Company, into its prestigious Business Hall of Fame. A former Junior Achievement student at Waiakea High School, Chan’s story is one of grit and determination, beginning in Kalihi in 2000 with a small table fryer and selling the chips at craft fairs, weathering early financial struggles, and finding creative ways to keep his dream alive. Today, Hawaiian Chip Company’s taro and sweet potato chips are enjoyed statewide, and Chan’s leadership extends far beyond his business through service on multiple Hawai‘i business boards.
The evening also honored Lee Wilson with the Distinguished Supporter Award. Wilson’s career in marketing, business development, and leadership, most notably during his 20 years with HPM Building Supply, has been matched by decades of volunteer service. His deep commitment to community, especially through Junior Achievement and Easter Seals Hawai‘i, reflects his belief in empowering others and giving back.
In addition, two well-deserving students were awarded Junior Achievement scholarships, recognizing their hard work, leadership potential, and dedication to their future goals.
